He is a Jealous God

Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.  Exodus 34:14

God is jealous when someone gives something away that rightly belongs to Him.  He is possessive of our worship and service.

WORSHIP:  The intentional act of making God the highest priority in our hearts, our minds and our actions.  It is putting Him first.

What does this look like?

Make time to spend with Him daily.  Even if it’s only 15 minutes when you first wake up reading the bible and praying.  You can always increase your time.

Study Scripture and give thanks to God before checking email or getting on social media.

That’s not all:

It’s also keeping God on our hearts and minds when we’re serving our family and the people we’re around frequently.  Simple kindness to others with the intention of blessing them will produce joy in their lives and bring glory to God.

Smiling and enjoying our children.  Loving our husbands fiercely.  Being determined everyday, to keep God first in our hearts so we are strong enough to impact our family and community.  Because it won’t be us doing the impacting…it will be God!

And no one can love the world around us like the Lord God Almighty.  So if we’re trusting in Him ~ He will do amazing things.  It all starts with the simple act of worship.  Giving to God what belongs to Him!

He wants a relationship with us ~ to spend time with us ~for us to lean on Him and look to Him ~ Every. Single. Day.  HE LOVES US!  His love for us is so incredibly intense that if we truly understood this, we’d do everything in our power to seek Him first and foremost in our lives.  I can write this and believe it but I don’t fully grasp this myself, if that makes any sense.

Furthermore, we are His hands and feet and He will make a difference in our families and our world through each of us.  How life changing is that?

I’m taking a break from my normal blogging and posting to grow closer to the Lord, spend more time with my family and actively make my life a little easier.  I will post my journey after Easter.  In the mean time, I will be doing a series of simple devotions to keep my focus on God.

Let me know what you think!  I’d love to hear from you!

PS ~ I almost stopped writing this because of an extremely rough week (and that’s putting it mildly.)  A brutal week dealing with some of the things I was writing in this blog.  Imagine that! HA!  I was feeling like a failure (ALSO: putting it mildly.) So I thought maybe I should hang up my writing until my children are all grown and parenting isn’t so challenging.  But then I remembered that every season has its trials and when I am weak ~ HE IS STRONG!  So I was motivated to keep pressing on and continue sharing my story.
