Live Loved

Therefore, be imitators of God as dearly loved children. Ephesians 5:1

The other night while I was laying in bed, I thought to myself, “How many times do you have to get kicked in the face before you just hate everyone?”  Immediately the answer came to me, “70×7.”  Now, I wasn’t seeking God or looking for answers, I was nursing wounds and God crashed my pity-party when I least expected it.  I shouldn’t be surprised since God is ever present in my life.  But this night I was discouraged and ruminating without looking to God.  Since God answered my thoughts so quickly, it made me ponder His answer.

70×7… Not that we should allow ourselves or our children to be around unhealthy and toxic people but letting my thoughts take over isn’t right either.  It made me think about what I should have done instead.

I should have turned to God.  I should have cast my cares on Him.   I needed to take my thoughts captive and direct them towards God! I should ask Him for help instead of taking matters in my own hands.  I should SEEK HIM!

Our pastor said ~ if every kid got a brand new car for their 16th birthday from their parents, you’d have some kids who wouldn’t take care of their cars, they wouldn’t be thankful and they’d act like spoiled brats.  There also would be kids who did the opposite.  They’d be thankful, appreciative and they would do everything they could to keep the car running and looking nice.  They’d take care of it and they wouldn’t take it for granted.

That’s how it is with our Christian walk.  Am I going to act spoiled and demand my way or am I going to be an imitator of God and live like the deeply loved child of God that I am?  Laying around complaining in my head isn’t living like I’m loved.

Being thankful and appreciative can start with our thoughts especially at night when the pressure of the world seems extra heavy.  My focus needs to be on God and His love for me.

Therefore, be imitators of God as dearly loved children.  And live in love, just as Christ also loved us and gave Himself for us.   Ephesians 5:1-2

Jesus gave His life for us and we are deeply loved by the one and only true God.  Let’s live like we’re loved by walking in love and seeking God every day no matter what our circumstances are.

Like that song “Live Like You’re Loved” by Hawk Nelson says:

“Live like you’re loved ~ walk like you’re free  ~ Stand like you know who He made you to be.  Live like you’re loved ~ like you believe ~ HIS LOVE IS ALL THAT YOU’LL EVER NEED!”
