The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11
Happy Good Friday! I pray blessings for you this weekend as you celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
I will be returning to my regular blog writing next Friday. During this season of lent, I gave up a lot and made some changes in my life. It’s strange that as soon as I started these things ~ drama and chaos happened. Perhaps it was a spiritual attack or maybe it was just life but I’m thankful things have simmered down a bit, for now. I don’t want to give anything away but in the next couple of weeks, I will be writing about what I did and what happened during lent.
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation and we have a priceless inheritance. 1 Peter 1:3-4
ALSO: Some exciting news regarding our youngest ~ who also turned seven years old yesterday (April 13) ~ on Easter morning at church ~ he is going to be baptized. He is the youngest of 5 and the last one to obey the Lord by publicly acknowledging his trust in Christ as his Savior. Our four older children were also baptized on Easter ~ 9 years ago! How awesome is that?!
Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because He raised Christ from the dead and gave Him great glory. 1 Peter 1:21
In the spirit of Easter, I thought I would write a devotional on the power of His resurrection. Jesus is the reason for life and the reason we have eternal life. His resurrection is the greatest event in history. Having lived a perfect life ~ Jesus ~ the Son of God ~ came to die for the sins of the world. Throughout His life, He claimed to be the Son of God, which is why the religious leaders sought to put Him to death. They didn’t realize that they were helping Him fulfill God’s purpose, not stop Him. He was raised from the dead which is proof that He truly is the Son of God. Not only did He come back to life but it was prophesied that He would do so.
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
His resurrection is evidence that everything He said is true. He lived a sinless life, died and paid the penalty of sin. God is satisfied and accepted the sacrifices of the cross as payment for our trespasses. Anyone who believes and receives this gift will have eternal life and a fulfilling life that comes with having a relationship with God.
I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me. John 14:6
After salvation, we now have the Holy Spirit living in us and we are made alive. Able to enjoy a relationship with God and serve Him, we can spread the Gospel to those around us. The promises and blessings of God are for us.
I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised Him from the dead. I want to suffer with Him, sharing in His death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 3:10-11
The Old Testament Law was given to point people to Christ because no one could obey the law perfectly. When Jesus came He didn’t get rid of the law but fulfilled it (Matthew 5:17). He raised the bar for obedience which isn’t bad for us because He is the One working in our lives. Have faith and rely on God to complete the work He is doing.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20
Having been reconciled with God, we are to die to our old self daily and follow Jesus. Christ lives in us and we have life and hope for the future. We don’t need to strive to please God ~ because of Christ’s death ~burial~ and resurrection ~ He is already pleased with us and wants us to look to Him daily, set aside our “self,” and follow Him. Bringing us to Himself and working in us to bless others is His job. All we need to do is abide in Christ. Without Him, we can do nothing but He can do amazing things through us with His power. He has proven that through His resurrection.
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24
As we celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ let’s remember what Yeshua the Messiah did for us and why. He died on the cross for our sins so we can not only have eternal life but so we can experience His love and grace in growing closer to Him and knowing Him.
I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in Me and believes in Me will never ever die. John 11:25-26
