Mawwiage is what bwings us togethew today!

If you haven’t seen The Princess Bride ~ I apologize for the weird title! It’s the first thing that came to mind when I thought about writing this blog.

Our 26th wedding anniversary was yesterday (August 24th) and I wanted to write my thoughts with a list on how to bless your family.

I say family because if you have a good marriage, it blesses your entire family.

Whether your marriage blissful or frustrating, this will be encouraging.

It’s about honoring God by being the wife He calls us to be.

~ Treat your husband with kindness and respect ~ even when it’s hard, or when you’re tired or grumpy.  Look to the Lord for strength.

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered… 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

~Submit to him as to the Lord.  (Ephesians 5:22) ~ you are not a slave to your husband but you are his queen ~ love and honor him.

~ Appreciate him ~ be sincerely grateful for all that he does for you and your family.

~ Accept him ~ love and accept him for who he is.

~ Admire him ~ focus on your husband every day.  Praise him in public and in private.

~ Honor him ~ treat him like a treasured friend, not like a child.

~ Adapt to his way of life ~ be interested in him and his likes.  Be faithful to him in every way.

~ Be blameless ~ live in a way that brings glory to God.

You shall be blameless before the Lord your God.  Deuteronomy 18:13

~ Be excellent to him ~ be good to him, talk good to him and about him.  Never embarrass him or put him down.  Don’t be harsh or mean.

~ Greatly enrich his life ~ in other words, be a blessing to him.  Love, flirt, massage, hug, clean, cook, or whatever floats his boat.

~ Do him good and not evil, all the days of his life ~ never do him harm or bring harm to your home.  Be trustworthy.

~ Work hard ~ don’t be lazy.  Take care of your family and be attentive to their needs.

~ Be energetic and strong ~ if you don’t feel energetic or strong, seek the Lord.  He will give you strength.

But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.  Isaiah 40:31

~ Be kind to others ~ being kind to others will set a good example for your children and will improve the reputation of your family.  In turn, this will bless your tribe.

~ Clothe yourself in strength and dignity ~ don’t fret and worry.  Don’t control others.  Don’t get frazzled or upset easily.  Trust in the Lord and seek Him everyday.  He will make you strong and confident.

~ Be patient ~ love your husband with patience.  Love is patient, love is kind… The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience…  Patience comes from God ~ who knows all about longsuffering.

~ Love fiercely  ~ never withhold love from your husband.

~ Forgive ~ forgive often.  Forgive daily.

Bear with each other and forgive one another ~ if any of you has a grievance against someone ~ forgive as the Lord forgave you.  Colossians 3:13

If after reading this you feel like a failure ~ DON’T!  Nothing shows our weakness and vulnerability more than a marriage relationship.  Our husband sees our best and worst and so does God.  God doesn’t expect perfection.  He wants us to have faith and trust in Him.  He wants a relationship with us.  Look to the Lord and He will work in your heart and in your marriage.
