HaPpY Thanksgiving

I didn’t get an article written in my blog last Friday because life happens.  We had family visiting from Phoenix for Thanksgiving, I got sick with a bladder infection, then the antibiotic made me sick by tearing up my stomach (I’m better now WHEW!)  I was going to skip a week but decided to send you this blessing!

“The Lord bless you
and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.”  Numbers 6:24-26

You are amazing ~ you are wonderful ~ and you are making a difference.  You are a blessing to me and to your family and I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebrating with your family.

Thank you so much for reading my blogs over the past year.  You mean so much to me!

Health and Wellness Tip

Thanksgiving is over! Leftovers are gone! There is absolutely NO REASON to head into December thinking, “I’ll get back on track in January.” No way! You deserve to feel awesome all month long!! And you absolutely don’t want to start 2018 at plus 5-10 lbs! What I will be doing:

1. Lots of water! With lemon! (Gentle, natural detoxer!)

2. Continuing the supplements that make me feel good: magnesium, Omegas, probiotics, aloe-enhanced multivitamin & blood sugar balancer.

3. In bed earlier than midnight! It’s important to reset my sleep schedule so I have a good week!

4. Low carb day today. I will be removing all the extra pies, cake, treats, etc. from my house so that my entire family can detox from the sugar (Sorry kids!)

5. Cardio workout to get my heart rate up.

6. Make a solid food and exercise plan for the upcoming week.

7. Know that I will be craving SUGAR today and likely tomorrow from all of the treats.  But if I have two sugarless days in a row, I’ll effectively detox and be feeling like myself again. The more sugar you eat, the more you WILL crave it!!

8. Stay off the scale!!

Happy New Week!

I know this is late notice but anyone interested in the Black Friday special that ends 5pm EST today.  Text or call me and I’ll help you get started on your health journey! (623) 238-0494

Why We Need a Savior and How to Teach This to Your Children

I think the title is a great intro.  There is not too much more I can say about it.  We need a Savior and we need to teach this to our children.  Period.  Keep reading!

We need a Savior because:

1. God Loves Us

He loves us and desires to have a relationship with us.  That’s why He sent His Son to pay for our sin by dying on the cross ~ so we can have fellowship with HIM!  He created us for HIS glory!  How awesome is that?

Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glorywhom I formed and made.  Isaiah 3:6-7

Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in  to him and eat with him, and he with Me.  Revelation 3:20

2. Adam and Eve sinned

God created our amazing world and created Adam and Eve to take care of it.  Not only to take care of the earth and animals but also to be fruitful and multiply.  However, the first thing they did was disobey God by eating the fruit from the tree that was forbidden.

The woman saw that the tree’s fruit was good to eat and pleasing to look at. She also saw that it would make a person wise.  So she took some of the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her.  And he ate it.  Genesis 3:6

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned.  Romans 5:12

This means that…

3. We are born sinners

Because Adam and Eve sinned, we are all therefore born sinners.  Which means we are born separated from God.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 2:23

We are all born spiritually separated from God.  We can not have fellowship with Him or eternal life because of our sin.

4.  Death

Because we are born sinners, we will all die.  No one lives forever and no one can have life after death because of the sin that separates us.

The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 6:23

5.  God said we need a Savior

All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.  Romans 3:12

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe with your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  Romans 10:9

So how do we teach this to our children?  Reading the bible to your children regularly and teaching them the foundation of the bible is essential.  We must also teach them about salvation and why we need a Savior.

Anyone can teach their children these truths, even if they are new christians or maybe they don’t feel like they can communicate this correctly.  Read and learn along with them.  God is the One who is doing the work in their hearts.  All we do is guide, encourage and love them.  God will do the rest!

We have taught all of our children their need of a Savior but we never pushed them to believe or to be baptized.  All five of our kids came to us on their own expressing their decision and they all were baptized when God laid it on their hearts to do so.

This is not all or nothing.  We don’t need to cram this down their throats nor should we give up completely by not saying anything at all.  Show them little bits of Jesus every day through love, prayer and personal examples.

Here are some ideas for teaching God’s word and preparing them for salvation.

~ Ask the Lord to open doors for discussion daily

~ Read the bible to them starting at birth

~ Help them memorize scripture

~ Pray with them and for them

~ Teach them how to pray

~ Read the bible chronologically starting with Genesis

~ Egermeier’s Bible Story Book is a good tool along with the notes in the Life Application Bible

~ Share the gospel with them

~ Set a good example for them

~ Attend church with your children

~ Teach them the importance of reading the bible and praying daily

~ LOVE THEM!!!!

**This is for educational purposes only and not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any diseases.  This is my opinion based on my experience and personal research.

Blood sugar balance ~

Often when we think of blood sugar imbalance we think of those with Type 1, Type 2, pre-diabetes, or hypoglycemia.  But did you know that everyone needs to have a balanced blood sugar and sometimes people can have blood sugar problems without even knowing it?

Below are symptoms associated with blood sugar imbalance:

~ Excessive hunger and cravings

~ Mood swings

~ Weight problems

~ Infertility

~ Anxiety and depression

~ Poor concentration and brain fog

~ Fat storage around the middle

~ Addiction to caffeine

~ Insomnia and daytime drowsiness

I found something wonderful that has helped my family balance blood sugar which eliminated a ton of our symptoms.  It’s a great tool that is also balancing our gut and decreasing inflammation.

Thank you so much for reading my blog! It has been 1 year since I started this blog.  I hope my articles have been as much of a blessing and encouragement for you to read as it has been for me to write.  When I first started, I had ideas for about 5 articles but wasn’t sure what I would write after that.  I thought I’d go for it and see what happens.  It was overwhelming to think about writing an article every single week.  I wasn’t really sure what my specific niche would be but I figured that as long as the Lord was leading me to write, I’d write.  I kind of thought it would mostly be about homeschooling tips, but it turned into an inspirational, encouragement blog for moms and families.

I have learned so much through writing and I am so grateful for all of the people who have read my blog and reached out to me.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!  You are a blessing!

Brave and Strong

As we celebrate Veteran’s Day by honoring our Veterans for their bravery, sacrifice and service ~ I wanted to point out ways we as moms can love and serve our family.

Moms are brave and strong and make sacrifices every day for the needs of their families.

Mothers are important!

The wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands.  Proverbs 14:1

Here are some practical ways to love and serve our family:

Take care of yourself

~ Be strong spiritually by spending time in God’s word and praying everyday

~ Get plenty of rest

~ Take one day off to have fun

~ Be healthy

Take care of your family

~ Be available to them

~ Pay attention to their needs

~ Love them

~ Spend time with them

~ Feed them healthy meals

~ Be intentional in showing each child (and grandchild) that they are special and loved

~ Show your husband love and respect

~ Make love to your husband

Take care of your house

~ Cook

~ Clean

~ Laundry

~ Declutter

~ DELEGATE!!!!!!  (Sorry for yelling! HA!)

Health and Wellness Tip

It’s cold outside!  At least it is in Missouri.  Not sure about my Phoenix friends ~ It’s probably still 90 degrees YIKES.  But as the weather cools off we need to remember to drink plenty of water.

Water is very important because:

~ Flushes out toxins

~ Cleanses the kidneys and liver

~ Helps with weight loss

~ Helps with healing during flu season

~ Curbs hunger

~ Helps the body function properly (digestion, absorption, circulation, body temperature etc.)

~ Energizes muscles

~ Prevents dehydration (HMMM…REALLY?)

~ Helps skin look good

~ Prevents constipation

Don’t forget to drink your water this winter!

I’m going to keep this short and sweet because I had a rough week.  Tooth extractions ~ dry socket ~ more extractions ~ and more dry socket to come because those dog-gone root canal teeth are little boogers and don’t like to come out and clot properly! UGH!

While at the oral surgeon this morning, I forgot a book to read and I had to wait over an hour with nothing to do but sit and pray.  At this stage of my life, I enjoy those times more than I did when I was younger and more apt to be fidgety.

I prayed for my family, my health, my procedure, the doctors, my friends and…

how on earth do I get everything done without feeling like I’m drowning and working hard all day long but accomplishing nothing?  I know I’ve blogged about this very thing and I probably should re-read some of what I’ve written so I have this down, right?

I wanted a fresh look at things since my situation keeps changing.  As our children grow and needs change, I need to change also to keep up with our family.

So I prayed and brain stormed and came up with a couple of thoughts that I wanted to share with you.

These are pre-novocain and pre-percocet thoughts, by the way!

Listening to recent home business training videos they said that if your house is a little messier and things don’t get done ~ don’t sweat it ~ let it go!

I agree with that whole-heartedly in a lot of scenarios, like health issues, pregnancy, having little ones, caring for a loved one’s health needs, working, and a lot of other things that come up in life that make being a cleaning lady less of a priority…

BUT…

In my life and situation right now, I feel like there is absolutely NO REASON why I should be behind on everything every day.  Not that we have to be perfect every single day ~ that has never happened and it never will ~ But I have some pretty awesome able-bodied big people who help out tremendously in this house and are all willing to do whatever it takes to assist with the load.

~ I need to be organized on my end and…

~DELEGATE~

I’m a terrible delegator!  Our children all have chores and responsibilities and they mostly do what they’re suppose to do and more without complaint.  I say mostly because the second I brag ~ things usually go down hill fast.  See?  I’m learning!

So ~ this is what I came up with while I was fretting  waiting for the extractions:

  1. Spending time in God’s word and praying daily is a PRIORITY!
  2. Exercising daily is a MUST! (Doctors orders so my kidney doesn’t get blocked again!)
  3. Preplan my meals better.  Pre-cut vegetables and make a list of my food and meals so the kids can help out without confusion.
  4. Delegate more chores to the kids.  They won’t even notice.  (LOL)
  5. Declutter.  I did this once in the spring and it was AWESOME!!  I’m not good at keeping it up though.  More clutter makes more chaos.  Read my blogs titled “The Time I Gave Up Social Media For Lent”

And “Part 2” also has a follow-up of how I decluttered and how awesome it was.

Decluttering really helps keep the workload down.  I need to keep up with this as holding on to everything is a hard habit to break, especially after 46 years of experience.

I think that about covers it.  The pain-killers are starting to kick in so I can’t remember if there is more or not ~ but I think you got the idea.

Health and Wellness Tip

Here is a quick list of things that can slow down the body’s healing process and weight-loss results:

  1. Stress
  2. Not drinking enough water
  3. Not getting enough sleep
  4. Not eating healthy
  5. Not eating enough healthy fats (Avocados, walnuts, olive oil, flax seed, salmon etc.)
  6. Skipping meals
  7. Not exercising
  8. Drinking soda or diet soda
  9. Constipation (Plexus BioCleanse helps with this)
