I think the title is a great intro. There is not too much more I can say about it. We need a Savior and we need to teach this to our children. Period. Keep reading!
We need a Savior because:
1. God Loves Us
He loves us and desires to have a relationship with us. That’s why He sent His Son to pay for our sin by dying on the cross ~ so we can have fellowship with HIM! He created us for HIS glory! How awesome is that?
Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made. Isaiah 3:6-7
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20
2. Adam and Eve sinned
God created our amazing world and created Adam and Eve to take care of it. Not only to take care of the earth and animals but also to be fruitful and multiply. However, the first thing they did was disobey God by eating the fruit from the tree that was forbidden.
The woman saw that the tree’s fruit was good to eat and pleasing to look at. She also saw that it would make a person wise. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her. And he ate it. Genesis 3:6
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned. Romans 5:12
This means that…
3. We are born sinners
Because Adam and Eve sinned, we are all therefore born sinners. Which means we are born separated from God.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 2:23
We are all born spiritually separated from God. We can not have fellowship with Him or eternal life because of our sin.
Because we are born sinners, we will all die. No one lives forever and no one can have life after death because of the sin that separates us.
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
5. God said we need a Savior
All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. Romans 3:12
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe with your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
So how do we teach this to our children? Reading the bible to your children regularly and teaching them the foundation of the bible is essential. We must also teach them about salvation and why we need a Savior.
Anyone can teach their children these truths, even if they are new christians or maybe they don’t feel like they can communicate this correctly. Read and learn along with them. God is the One who is doing the work in their hearts. All we do is guide, encourage and love them. God will do the rest!
We have taught all of our children their need of a Savior but we never pushed them to believe or to be baptized. All five of our kids came to us on their own expressing their decision and they all were baptized when God laid it on their hearts to do so.
This is not all or nothing. We don’t need to cram this down their throats nor should we give up completely by not saying anything at all. Show them little bits of Jesus every day through love, prayer and personal examples.
Here are some ideas for teaching God’s word and preparing them for salvation.
~ Ask the Lord to open doors for discussion daily
~ Read the bible to them starting at birth
~ Help them memorize scripture
~ Pray with them and for them
~ Teach them how to pray
~ Read the bible chronologically starting with Genesis
~ Egermeier’s Bible Story Book is a good tool along with the notes in the Life Application Bible
~ Share the gospel with them
~ Set a good example for them
~ Attend church with your children
~ Teach them the importance of reading the bible and praying daily
~ LOVE THEM!!!!

Thank you so much for reading my blog! It has been 1 year since I started this blog. I hope my articles have been as much of a blessing and encouragement for you to read as it has been for me to write. When I first started, I had ideas for about 5 articles but wasn’t sure what I would write after that. I thought I’d go for it and see what happens. It was overwhelming to think about writing an article every single week. I wasn’t really sure what my specific niche would be but I figured that as long as the Lord was leading me to write, I’d write. I kind of thought it would mostly be about homeschooling tips, but it turned into an inspirational, encouragement blog for moms and families.
I have learned so much through writing and I am so grateful for all of the people who have read my blog and reached out to me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You are a blessing!
