The only thing better than homemade pizza is homemade pizza that cooks in 3 minutes. Yes, you heard me right! Gone are the days when homemade pizza includes 10 minutes of precooking the crust along with another 15 minutes to cook the dog-gone thing ~ with prep and everything making it one hour.
My funny family loves to ask right after I get started~
“Is dinner ready? It’s been 3 minutes!” HA HA
Not quite ~ family ~ but soon ~ VERY SOON!
- Before I get started, I want to say that it is very important that you get everything completely ready to make your pizza first before cooking (toppings, sauce, cheese, hot pads.) It cooks hot and it cooks fast. If your not ready you’ll be serving a very black and crispy pizza for dinner. OK ~ I’m exaggerating ~ but still ~ be ready.
For the Crust~
1 cup warm water
1 Tablespoon (or packet) yeast
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 Tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups flour
Pizza sauce (I don’t have an impressive recipe ~ sorry)
Favorite toppings (we like pepperoni, black olives, red, yellow, orange and green bell peppers, onions and jalapenos.)
Put oven on broil. Get your cast iron pans hot on the stove by turning it on high for a few minutes. If it starts to smoke ~ turn it down or off.
By the way: I tried this recipe with my regular cookie sheet and it worked fine. The bottom of the crust wasn’t as crispy but it was good just the same.
For the Crust~
~ Put water in a mixing bowl and sprinkle yeast on top.
~ Add sugar, oil and salt ~ whisk until dissolved.
~ Add flour. Mix and knead well and set aside while you get the other ingredients ready.
~ Grate cheese, chop veggies, get toppings and sauce ready.
Double check to make sure everything is ready before starting the next process. Clear the area of little munchkins and stay close while it’s cooking as it’s very hot and goes fast ~ THE BEST EVER ~ YAY!
OK ~ Here we go!
Divide the pizza crust according to how many pizzas you’re making. Roll them out to fit in your pans. Roll up the sides so the sauce will stay on the pizza and place on your hot cast iron pan. Put crust in the oven for 30-60 seconds. THE TIME MAY VARY SO WATCH CLOSELY UNTIL YOU KNOW HOW YOUR OVEN COOKS YOUR PIZZA.
Add the goods ~ pizza sauce, cheese, toppings, then top with a little more cheese. Cook on broil for 3-minutes and ENJOY!
